Make your computer Hindi Ready
Yes, Its simple, easy and fast. You can make your computer to read and write in Hindi. Thanks to Unicode system, it added Indic language characters and made life easy :). Before Unicode(Indic), lot of systems and fonts was available but in complicated form. They always creates problem when Indic files reads over different computers. Unicode made it easy, compatible and portable.
There are so many tools avaialble to enable Hindi ( and other Indic languages ) in your computer. Here you may get a good list and methods , but my preferred tool is HindiWriter,developed by Devendra Parakh. It can be downloaded from download.com. Its free :), Thanks to Devendera Prakash.
It is very simple, doesn’t use much resources your system. You can switch your keyboard between Hindi and Enlgish by using “Shift+Pause” key. Once you switch your keyboard to Hindi, it works in all Unicode ready applications, e.g MS office, Firfox, IE, msn-messenger or whatever you use. Some applications still doesn’t support Unicode editing, like Yahoo messenger, so can only hope, they will release Unicode ready version soon.
This is keyboard layout of HindiWriter, it is phonetic keyboard, so you have to write as you spell. It is easy for most computer users, however it may take 2-3 days to remember few keys, e.g., .D for ड़ or .Dh for ढ़.
If you are a Remington keyboard user, dont panic, U need to install Microsoft IME, It is also very simple and provide many keyboard layouts. Remington ( aka Traditional ) layout provide best writing capabilities and fastest typing control.
